Defne Bilgin – Cofounder and CEO of Moreshrooms AS
Defne is a food scientist with a passion for sustainable innovation. By founding Moreshromms, Defne is challenging the food industry’s status quo by harnessing creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. With a strong focus on building partnerships and a dedication to creative problem-solving, she has successfully led projects that secured critical grants and accelerator placements for her company.
Moreshrooms is shaping the future of food ingredients by producing carbon-negative mycoprotein. They specialise in crafting secure, eco-friendly, and scalable food components that empower the evolution of food products while championing sustainability.
Marie-Gabrielle Capodano – President and Founder of Spiru’Marine (FR)
Marie-Gabrielle, also known as Madame Spiruline, is the President and Founder of Spiru’Marine. She has forged an atypical career path guided by a sense of ethical commitment that has led her from a start as an air hostess to becoming a biotech entrepreneur and “Farmer of the Sea.” The Spirulina strain and confidential manufacturing process she has developed are the only ones of their kind in the world.
Spiru’Marine is a biotech startup specialised in Human Care. The project Or Vert Marin (Green Gold of the Sea) is a revolutionary industrial development program. Spiru’Marine, concerned about tomorrow’s world, is implementing an innovative solution to major planetary issues such as protein shortages, carbon footprints, freshwater shortages and the preservation of the environment and biodiversity, by creating a sustainable marine alternative, 100% seawater marine spirulina.
Mariana Mata Lara (Submariner – WIN BIG Project)
With an academic and professional background built in Europe and the Americas, Mariana has shaped her career on environmental management, conservation and communication, with a specific focus and passion for the Ocean and Coasts. She currently work as a Senior Project Manager for Sustainable Projects (s.Pro) and the SUBMARINER network, focusing on EU funded project coordination and proposal writing in the areas of blue economy, marine protected areas and boosting women’s careers in the Blue Economy.
WIN-BIG is addressing the gender imbalance and capacity gaps across Blue Economy sectors in the EU to support women joining and climbing their way up the value chain. Their ambition is to make the European Blue Economy industry more gender-balanced and sustainable.
